If interestingness were an Olympic event, Bountiful, Utah’s David R. Irvine would be a medalist every four years. Consider these vital “Irvine-istics:”
- He wears bow ties in the Trump Era when extra long neck-ties are de rigueur as descending far below the belt buckle they draw eyes away from wide girths.
- Kind hearted he has served several terms as a member of the Utah House of Representatives and sits comfortably among the socially-conservative House Republicans.
- Notwithstanding his social justice passions, Dave lives on Bountiful’s east bench aka the Tribal Homeland of the Utah-MAGA branch of the GOP.
Gotta admire Irvine. Only one with consummate self-confidence, intelligence and a quick wit could pack that many contradictions onto his slim frame.
Irvine also serves as a member of the Power Commission for Bountiful City Light & Power (BCL&P) that meets monthly.
Anchored by a gas-fired electrical generator BCL&P also buys power from several “renewable” hydro-electric resources for its 16,000 plus customers.
Irvine and his fellow commissioners are always searching for sustainable power resources to serve the growth of Davis County.
One thing Irvine is serious about is his admiration for Davis County’s utility pioneers who decades ago got the city into its own municipal power supplies and developed two water systems; one for potable water and one for irrigation water. “Visionary!” Irvine exclaims, and he is one who knows such things.
